The water pump on the Yamaha 3 cylinder has been a weak point. With various van configurations we found the lower vane count would build better pressure than the OEM impeller at anything above 5000 RPM. This could be from lower cavitation at the higher RPM. These findings allowed us to design an aluminum impeller that has the same Mass Moment of inertia as the OEM plastic impeller. We however still wanted to correct the weak shaft design and drive pin
